Guide
Amazon Associates Operating Agreement, Plain English
The Operating Agreement is long and dense — here's what it actually requires, broken into the rules that matter for day-to-day content.
Disclosure
Every page or video with an Associates link needs the specific required disclosure — not a generic "affiliate link" note.
Pricing and availability
Don't state specific prices, "in stock" status, or discounts in content that isn't updated in real time — these change and Amazon holds you responsible for stale claims.
Reviews and ratings
Don't reference star ratings, review counts, or "best seller" status directly — link to the product and let Amazon's own page show current data instead.
Link cloaking and redirects
Associates links must be identifiable as going to Amazon — link shorteners that obscure the destination, or redirect chains, violate the agreement even if the end destination is correct.
Activity minimum
At least three qualifying sales within 180 days of joining, and the account stays subject to ongoing activity expectations after that.
Check your scripts against all of it
BanProof AI checks affiliate video scripts against these exact categories before you publish.
