New Disclosure Rules Hit TikTok Shop Creators

BanProof Team·Aug 10, 2026·4 min read

TikTok Shop has rolled out updated disclosure requirements that affect every creator promoting products on the platform. Starting this month, all sponsored content must include a clearly visible disclosure within the first three seconds of the video.

What Changed

TikTok Shop updated its Creator Content Policy to require that all paid partnerships and sponsored product placements include a visible text overlay or verbal disclosure within the first 3 seconds of video content. This aligns with the FTC updated Endorsement Guides from late 2025.

Who Is Affected

Any TikTok Shop creator, affiliate, or brand ambassador who promotes products in exchange for compensation, free products, or commission-based earnings. This includes TikTok Shop showcase listings and live shopping sessions.

What You Need to Do

Review your existing content templates and ensure your disclosure appears before any product mention. Use TikTok built-in branded content toggle AND add a visible text overlay. For live shopping, verbally state the partnership within the first 30 seconds and pin a disclosure comment.
