TikTok Shop Policy Changes 2026: What Affiliate Creators Need to Know
By BanProof Team · Published January 1, 1970
TikTok tightened its policy in Q1 2026. Here's what changed and how to stay compliant — with real script examples you can steal.
Why 2026 is different
Through 2024 and 2025, TikTok Shop enforcement was uneven — one video would get a strike, another with the exact same language would slide through. In Q1 2026, TikTok rolled out an automated policy classifier that scans every affiliate video before it goes live. It runs on the transcript, the on-screen text, and the linked product page.
Translation for creators: the words you say in your video are now the biggest single risk factor in your account. A single banned phrase can cost you commissions on that video, add violation points, and — for repeat offenders — pull the whole account.
The four key changes
- Medical and health claims are banned entirely. Any language implying a product diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents a condition is auto-flagged — even in beauty, wellness, and food categories. "Clears acne", "fixes bloating", and "reverses hair loss" now all trigger a violation.
- Guarantee language is restricted. Absolute guarantees ("100% money back", "guaranteed results", "works for everyone") require verifiable proof on the product listing. Without matching text on the PDP, the video is demoted.
- Proof of product requirements tightened. If you show before/after imagery, TikTok now requires the same imagery to be visible on the seller's own product page, or the video is limited to organic reach only.
- "Cure" and "clinically proven" auto-flag. A short list of high-risk phrases now trigger an instant hold on the video — no human review — and add 2 violation points even on first offense.
How to adapt your scripts
The good news: high-converting hooks and demos still work. You just have to rebuild them around three rules.
- Swap "cures" for "supports". Structure-function language ("supports clearer skin", "helps with occasional bloating") is still allowed for most categories. It performs almost as well because viewers infer the benefit.
- Show proof, not promises. Replace "guaranteed" with reviewer counts, star ratings, or time-based results ("47,000 reviews", "used it for 30 days"). Concrete numbers convert better than absolutes anyway.
- Avoid absolutes and superlatives. "Best", "only", "guaranteed", "cure", "reverses", "eliminates" — these are the words the classifier weights heaviest. Replace with softer, benefit-driven phrasing.
Real script rewrites
Here are four before/after rewrites pulled from real TikTok Shop affiliate scripts. Every "before" line got flagged by the new 2026 classifier in our internal testing.
Before — flagged
"This serum cured my cystic acne in 2 weeks — guaranteed."
After — compliant
"I used this serum for 2 weeks and my skin looked calmer. 47k reviewers agree."
Removes medical claim ('cured') and absolute guarantee. Adds proof via reviewer count.
Before — flagged
"Clinically proven to reverse hair loss — best product on TikTok Shop."
After — compliant
"Formulated with ingredients studied for supporting fuller-looking hair."
Removes 'clinically proven' and 'reverse' (auto-flag) and drops the 'best' superlative.
Before — flagged
"100% money back if this doesn't fix your bloating."
After — compliant
"If it's not for you, check the seller's return policy on the product page."
Removes health claim and unverified absolute guarantee. Points viewer to the PDP.
Before — flagged
"FDA approved fat burner — melts belly fat guaranteed."
After — compliant
"A daily supplement people use as part of their routine — see the ingredients on the listing."
Removes false certification, medical claim, and guarantee. Redirects to product page.
A quick compliance checklist
✓ No medical, treatment, cure, or diagnostic language ✓ No absolute guarantees without matching PDP proof ✓ Before/after imagery mirrors seller's product page ✓ Use "supports" / "helps" instead of "cures" / "fixes" ✓ Replace superlatives with concrete numbers or reviews ✓ FTC disclosure (#ad or "commissionable") in caption
